category. I thought I’d try my hand in writing something I’ve never
done before (New Experience for me, haha). And once again, please heed

I’m a billion percent frustrated because my immediate thought was the one where they make out right after they escape a bat monster when Mabel grappling hooks its wing. It’s one of my favorite moments ever in pinecest partially because there was a lot of build up and it was amazing release. But I can’t remember the title or the author since its been forever since I read it. If someone knows what I’m talking about then I’d appreciate it.
It was the first Pinecest I’d ever read, and in hindsight I believe I lucked into the perfect fic to be my gateway drug to this ship. It remains one of my all-time favorites.

So I have had this thought pop up for the last few days and was wondering this question.
If the great Alex Hirsch agreed to read one, and only one, Pinecest fanfiction story, what story would you have him read?
It could be any story that features the twins, even the fics where they are not exactly related. I am curious what I will hear. Please share this I am genuinely interested if other people have had this thought as well.
I know that is way too many for just one choice, and believe me there are many more contenders out there, but these are some of the ones that have made stories that kind of legitimize the whole them being together is alright for me.

Assuming Alex has interest in this particular subject matter, I would vote for “Mystery Twins” (Intro, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) by @coniferoussiblings . As an “origin story” of their taboo relationship, no other story (in my opinion) does a better job of doing so while capturing the spirit of the television show. There’s comedy, adventure, danger, and the familiar setting and characters of Gravity Falls, along with spot-on banter between Dipper and Mabel. Plus while it does have some NSFW erotic scenes, it is written tastefully and fits perfectly into the tone of the story. It may have been the first Pinecest fanfic I ever read, but it objectively remains a standard-bearer.
(Shoutout to @handleonthescandal for conceptualizing fem!dippin’, an AU where the Pines triplets consist of Fem!Dip, Mabel, and Tyrone. When I recently had the good fortune to spend some time with @dddippinsauce and @equilateral-asshat outside of cyberspace, it was hard to keep the dynamic far from our minds. This fic is dedicated to the two of them ‘cause they’re the bestest chicken nuggets around).

They are finally all together, for only a weekend, and Mabel finds herself tempted to pick up right where they left off. Angst, fluff, smut. TW incest. Fem!Dippin Pinecest. It’s a slightly different flavor of pinecest, but it’s a specific dynamic that I am a huge, huge sucker for when it comes to twincest, and especially these two dorks. This is also based on my personal prediction that in canon, things are gonna get a lot worse before they get better, which is reflected in this fic.

The call comes at five in the morning. Mabel’s asleep, has been for hours, but when she sees Dipper’s name on the screen she knows he probably hasn’t even laid in bed yet. Her voice is thick when she answers. “What’s the deal, broski?” Feigning a light-hearted tone, even though she already knows, at this hour, why he’s calling.
“Please,” he says, and his voice breaks, and he swears softly. He didn’t want his voice to break right away, she thinks. “Please come up.”
“Of course.” She’s already stumbling out of bed, switching on a light that hurts her eyes, making soft shushing sounds at Fritters when he wakes up at the foot of her bed and blinks confusedly. Me too, kittenpants. Me too. “Just gonna make the coffee and put on some shoes. You have food in the apartment?”
“Sort of.” His voice is still quavering. She’s distracting him, keeping him grounded to the here, the now, the real.

Weekend Ruse still stands the test of time as one of- if not my all time- favorite Pinecest fanfic. And this picture is one of the most iconic memories I have of it.

You may notice that most of these are ‘older’ fics. I read the majority of these fics when I first joined the ship and started this blog. They have a lot of sentimental value to me, and that’s a big part of why I listed them. There are hundreds of really good fics out there, but these ten are what really strike a cord with me. They remind me of the good old days, before the huge mass of antis and before the shrinking of the fandom; the days when BillDip was in its prime.
