Summary: After being unsatisfied with their lives, Dipper and Mabel move back to Gravity Falls to reopen the Mystery Shack, and something scary and new starts bubbling under the surface. But the sudden appearance of a third party throws even their sibling relationship into chaos.
Mabel was pretty sure the Shack had THREE people living in it,
but she wouldn’t know it from the past week.
That was how long it’d been since either Dipper or Tyrone
said more than a handful of non-work-related words to her. Since her amazing
kiss with Tyrone, and Dipper’s subsequent flipping out. Seven days of Tyrone
spouting out “I’m not ready for this”s or “I can’t do this right now”s and
clumsily stumbling out of the room like a drugged up spider whenever she
brought up their apparently one-night whirlwind romance. Seven days of Dipper
being unable to look her in the eye, mumbling out a ‘stuff’ when she asked him
what’d been going on with him before choking out an apology that sounded like
he had no idea what he was apologizing for, or like he was apologizing for everything. SEVEN DAYS of chasing after
the world’s two most fretting-est butterflies hoping that they’d eventually
land on her welcoming, understanding finger and let her in on why they kept
fluttering away. Why won’t you come to
Mabel, little butterflies?!
No dice. No cards, no board, no nothing. Just her, her cheap
$50 electric guitar covered in stickers, and her newly flowering herb garden
grown from cuttings (you get ‘em growin’
quicker that way) that just barely fit in her bedroom windowsill.
“At least YOU’RE here for me, little lavender buds,” she
said toward her pots. She’d only started growing them to train her for doing
flowers once the spring hit, but she had to admit she was getting attached, now
that little flecks of bright color started showing in some of the plants. And because aside from Waddles they were
basically her only company nowadays, she thought, with a strumof her always-slightly-out-of-tune
guitar. The strings plinked out quiet and unamplified as six dissonant notes,
the closest thing she could get to expressing her frustration since she was
still learning all the chords.
She’d spent most of her free time in the last week in a
similar position, since her free time was actually free now. She never had a
specific schedule for it, but every second of it required either Dipper or
Tyrone to be around (though, maybe not in a very good balance, she thought with
a grimace), and neither of them could seem to stand being within 5 feet of her.
Heck, she was also spending a little bit of her work time
failing to play the guitar while she talked to plants that didn’t talk back.
Her mood soured more and more with every day they avoided her, and it was
getting harder to work on her Imagineering when it was all wonder and play and
she was all curds and whey. Especially when she had gotten so used to crafting
with one of her now-elusive roomies keeping her company, mumbling away at
whatever THEY were working on (…though, it’d been almost exclusively Tyrone for
a while, she thought with another grimace).
She just… wasn’t used to feeling so lonely, not like this.
Not since Dipper came back from school, anyway.
how does this continue to be all of my favorite things rolled up into one long amazingly well written well-plotted in-character chapter fic. what the hell. holy shit. i’m. just. what did we do to deserve you, pit
An anon asked me for more Mr and Mrs Pines POV stuff.
————
Mr. Pines stared into the eyes of his reflection as he brushed his teeth. They seemed to glow with a pale gray aura of boredom, a symptom of his current workplace woes as the deadline for his team’s project neared. Spending hours upon hours upon hours staring at the myriad words and symbols of the program’s code to find each and every little error was taking a toll on his psyche and he yearned for some sort of change or distraction. Something to think about other than the endless code.
He heard the bedroom door open and blinked out of his one person staring contest. Spitting out the toothpaste into the sink and washing it away with water, he turned and left the bathroom, eager to find solace in his wife. He would ask her about her day and so find that necessary “other thought” to break the suffocating hold his job held over his mind.
Lol, I was listening to Your Best American Girl by Mitski the whole time while writing this, but it doesn’t even correlate. In my opinion XD.
Hope you guys enjoy this short, short, short. Lol, My first fic out there in the world wide web, lmao I know I suck at writing but please bare with me HAHA! Im working on a bigger one but eheheheh, its taking forever amiright?? So have a snapshot ish thing!
And Happy almost Halloween! I’m actually rather early than late this time with a small gift! How cool! I also did this mainly as a side ish joke.
Main Jizz: Thinking Incest was only Incest if it was a brother and sister. The Trio guys. (It’s been an Idea cooking in my brain and my brain sucks XD)

Dipper was surprised at how much of the administrative side
of the Shack was finished up, a little over two months since he’d started it.
The legal aspects of the Shack being a business were set with (almost) no
outstanding problems; the first wave of gift shop souvenirs was on its way to
Gravity Falls in the back of a truck driven by one Marcus Corduroy, working for
his dad’s local trucking business; he had a few contracts drawn up with some of
local businesses, to trade advertising and services; Internet ad spaces were
bought and scheduled to start advertising in December (for their January reopening);
he even managed to get billboard space on the highway that passed by the town,
and man did he not care about any of
that right now.
A bunch of related paperwork sat off to the side in front of
his open but discarded laptop, abandoned on a page about flyer purchasing (a
non-digital avenue to reach older or local prospective customers) on a table
sitting in Ford’s Laboratory, where his workspace had been for the past few
weeks. At the moment he was too engrossed in reading through the OTHER notes to
care about budgets and timetables.
It was incredible how many unverified rumors bounced around,
how often something in the forest needed checking up on, how much danger existed that needed to be
handled. It wasn’t like he was completely unaware, but maybe by virtue of until
recently only being a resident for a few months out of the year, he had never
really known the scale of it. It was hard to believe it didn’t spill out into
the town more often than it did. Good thing he, Mabel, and Tyrone were here to keep
things regulated.
Well, just Mabel and Tyrone, really. It really had been
effective, making them handle most of the weird stuff. They were efficient and
competent; the both of them capable, in different ways, of calming down and
dealing with the troubles of Gravity Falls. And meanwhile, Dipper did the other
stuff. The boring stuff. The stuff everyone hated to do.
It was unfortunate, and frustrating, but sometimes,
compromises have to be made. This was their job now, or at least it would be
soon, and part of a job was that you had specific responsibilities, and they
weren’t always the ones you wanted, but you did them anyway. He had to take
this seriously, as serious as Mabel did, who was building and crafting every
day, as serious as Tyrone, who wrote report after report over what was going on
in the forest.
It was just…
This whole Mystery Shack thing was his idea, right? Shouldn’t he
be having fun too?
haha dang!! i looked at that mabel’s dream boy fanart by imsorryjesus right after i looked @ an old mike inel animatic gif, and i got the sudden urge to gif a scene from MDB and then i was like woah shit that fic would be around 3 years old now, so i went back and checked the publish date and it just happened to be three years todaY that i posted it! lmao coincidences
idk i’ve had the urge to do comic-y shit lately (not just pinecest, ill take anything) but ideas for them just don’t pop in to my head like they used to… i feel like gif-making would satisfy the comic-making urge
ahurhurhur i already know what scene i’d do too
also i added to/rewrote a bunch of mabel’s dream boy around the same time i did it for the other two in that series (bc i felt like dip cracked to the point of revealing his deepest darkest secret wayyy too easily in the original lolz) but never posted it! one day i will do that
